The Australian Capital Training Group is a specialised small
business providing training in the area of accounting, financial
management and budgeting. The company has provided training
for both the private and public sector and covered a vast
range of accounting issues from introductory accounting through
to the professional qualifications with the Institute of Chartered
Accountants Australia (ICAA).
The company has professional and articulate presenters, the
expertise to deliver financial management training, an understanding
of the public sector financial management framework, the capacity
to undertake research of content material, extensive previous
training experience, and a willingness to deliver training
to meet the clients' needs.
The training services provided to the public sector includes
the design and development of training and learning programs
and materials, and the delivery of those programs in a manner
appropriate to either the Departments needs, in the case of
an in-house course, or the individuals needs, in the case
of an open course.
Australian Capital Training Group aims to provide a high
quality program that meets those needs through a development
process that includes significant consultation with the contracting
Department and other relevant stakeholders if appropriate.
Although the company is small, it specialises in the development
and delivery of government accounting and budget training
and so all its resources are dedicated to this end.
Australian Capital Training Group has been working with government
departments for over 10 years to provide training in accounting,
budgeting and financial management skills to fulfil their
staff development requirements. A range of programs can be
delivered such as Accounting for Non-Accountants; Accrual
& Zero Based Budgeting; The Australian Government Budget
Process; The Budget Legislative Framework; Financial Statement
Analysis; Government Appropriations; and now in conjunction
with the Department of Finance and Administration - the Budget
and Financial Essentials (BFE) program, as well as specifically
designed courses in all areas of accounting and budgeting
to suit the needs of the participants.
Company staff have extensive experience in delivering all
levels of accounting training to all levels of adult education
from accounting students, junior and senior accountants, all
levels of the APS from the most junior to the most senior
SES. Our staff have also provided training to company directors
and personal financial coaching to very senior public servants.
The company strongly believes training should be developed
to meet the needs of the participants rather than delivering
'off-the-shelf' mass produced training. Participants are more
likely to engage with training that can be directly related
to the work place and hence learn more from their experience.
These courses are therefore more enjoyable not only for the
participant but also for the trainer. Training courses provided
by the Australian Capital Training Group are always developed
in consultation with the client and are tailored to meet the
specific needs of the client and the participants.
Roslyn Jackson, the company's principal trainer, receives
excellent evaluations from her participants. She works hard
at setting a relaxed mood from the outset so that participants
are comfortable in asking questions and can gain the most
from the training. She is able to demystify complicated issues,
explaining in a clear and concise manner without further confusing
or embarrassing her participants. Roslyn is very well informed
of government financial management requirements and has trained
extensively in this area over the past several years.
By using only a small number of trainers, this enables the
trainers to develop a relationship with the participants.
Discussion in training sessions will flow much better once
a relationship of trust and confidence is established.
Given the content of the material the company presents, most
training is delivered in face-to-face situations, usually
limited to a maximum of 18-20 participants as this allows
for plenty of interaction with the participants, questions
to be answered fully and concepts to be explained in detail.
The content of our material and courses are continually reviewed
and up-dated as required. This is achieved through extensive
professional development and constant contact with subject
experts within client departments. The company has established
relationships with a number of agencies that ensures training
is scheduled appropriately and course materials are prepared
as required.
Every participant at every course receives a comprehensive
training manual. Course materials and resources are developed
and prepared by the company as required by the client.
